Effective September 13, 2026
Arpello is operated by Can Citoglu (“Arpello,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Arpello application for iPhone and iPad (the “App”).
Information handled on your device
Arpello stores the following information locally on your device so that its features work and your progress is available the next time you open the App:
- practice sessions, practice time, accuracy, mistakes, completed songs, progress, and streaks;
- saved practice loops and lesson position;
- App preferences, such as haptic feedback, note labels, and onboarding status; and
- MIDI files that you choose to import and the lessons generated from them.
MIDI notes from a connected keyboard are processed in real time to provide lesson feedback and play audio. Arpello does not record audio. Raw MIDI performances are not uploaded by Arpello or retained as recordings; only the practice results described above are stored locally.
You can delete an imported MIDI file from its menu in the App. You can delete practice history using Settings > Reset practice data. Deleting the App also deletes its locally stored information, subject to your device backups and Apple’s backup behavior.
Subscriptions and purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment-card or bank-account details.
We use RevenueCat, Inc. (“RevenueCat”) to present subscription options, validate App Store receipts, restore purchases, prevent purchase fraud, determine whether Premium features should be available, and understand subscription performance. RevenueCat may process:
- a randomly generated anonymous App User ID;
- transaction and subscription information, including purchase history, product, price, currency, status, and Apple receipt information;
- technical information such as device type, operating system, App version, and the time the App last communicated with RevenueCat; and
- an approximate country inferred from an IP address. RevenueCat states that it discards the IP address after determining the country.
Arpello does not currently provide RevenueCat with your name, email address, phone number, advertising identifier, or a custom account identifier. The App does not have its own account system.
RevenueCat processes this information on our behalf as a service provider. Read RevenueCat’s privacy information. Apple handles App Store purchases under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Bluetooth and MIDI connections
Arpello requests Bluetooth access only to discover and connect to compatible Bluetooth MIDI devices and receive MIDI events. The App can also receive events from USB MIDI devices and other CoreMIDI-compatible connections. Arpello does not use Bluetooth to determine your location.
The names and connection state of available MIDI devices may be displayed while the App is running. Arpello does not send that information to us.
Support communications
If you choose Settings > Contact support, Arpello opens an email draft in your mail application. The draft may include the App version and your anonymous RevenueCat Account ID to help diagnose subscription issues. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the email.
If you contact us, we receive your email address, message, attachments, and any other information you choose to provide. We use this information to answer your request, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse, and improve Arpello. Support communications are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the request, troubleshoot recurring problems, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. They are then deleted or anonymized.
How we use information
We use information only to provide lessons and local progress; connect to MIDI devices; offer, validate, restore, and manage subscriptions; prevent fraud and diagnose problems; respond to support requests; and measure subscription performance using RevenueCat’s customer history and aggregate reporting.
Where the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or similar laws apply, our legal bases are performance of a contract or steps requested before entering a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the App and supporting users, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where the law requires it.
Sharing, retention, and deletion
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use information to track you across apps or websites.
Information is disclosed only to Apple for App Store purchases and StoreKit services; RevenueCat for subscription validation and entitlements; support and infrastructure providers when needed to deliver support communications; authorities when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect safety and security; and a successor if ownership of Arpello changes, subject to appropriate protections.
- Local practice data and settings remain until you reset them or delete the App.
- Imported MIDI files remain until you remove them or delete the App.
- RevenueCat subscription records are retained while needed to provide subscription access, maintain transaction history, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
- Support communications are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, then deleted or anonymized.
RevenueCat is based in the United States and states that customer data is stored using Amazon Web Services data centers in the United States. If information is transferred from another country, we and our service providers use safeguards required by applicable law.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information; to object to or restrict processing; to withdraw consent; and to appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.
Because Arpello does not have user accounts and most App data remains only on your device, we may not possess information that lets us identify or retrieve that local data. You can manage local information using the controls described above.
Children’s privacy
Arpello is a general-audience learning app and is not directed specifically to children under 13 or the minimum digital-consent age in their country. We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through a support request, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
Security and changes
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Arpello, our providers, or applicable law. We will change the effective date above and provide additional notice in the App when required. Material changes apply prospectively unless the law permits or requires otherwise.
